Expert Pain & Injury Rehabilitation in Longford

Our Sports & Athletic Therapists go beyond short-term fixes to diagnose the root cause of your pain. We build a true partnership to guide you from injury back to peak athletic performance.

A Smarter, More Effective Approach to Physiotherapy

Frustrated with the cycle of pain and re-injury? Traditional physio often focuses only on the symptom. At Function First, our sports therapy philosophy is different. We see pain as a signal from a wider system, and our first goal is to understand what your body is truly telling us.

  • Root Cause Diagnostics: We utilize comprehensive movement analysis and clinical testing to find the underlying cause of your chronic pain or athletic injury.
  • Education-First Philosophy: You will understand your body better. We empower you by explaining the ‘why’ behind your pain and the ‘how’ of our rehabilitation plan.
  • Long-Term Solutions: Our goal isn’t just to get you out of pain—it’s to build a more resilient, capable body that is less prone to future injury.

Your Journey from Injury to Lasting Performance

Step 1: The Comprehensive Initial Consultation

This is where we build the complete picture of you. New clients will undergo an in-depth initial consultation that includes movement screening, clinical assessment, and coordinative testing. We'll spend time going through your past health and injury history, as well as understanding your current lifestyle demands and long-term goals. Based on these findings, we'll explain your diagnosis, outline a suitable treatment plan, and establish the recommended steps for your recovery. Sessions may include soft tissue work to desensitise the affected area and the nervous system, as well as reduce inflammation & tissue inhibition. This ultimately allows us to tap into the nervous system on a deeper level and prepare it to accept and adapt to the rehab work required to make lasting change.

Step 2: The Active Rehabilitation Phase

Each follow-up session begins with a check-in to assess your progress. We then re-test key movements and clinical markers to ensure you are on the right track before providing treatment. The core of these sessions is progressing your rehabilitation plan; your program is updated after every visit and sent to you with instructional videos. Your commitment to the plan is crucial for success, and we maintain open communication throughout to ensure we are always moving forward together.

Step 3: Return to Sport & Injury Prevention

Each stage in recovery is important, but this is the step most Therapists and Clients fall down on. This final phase bridges the gap between successful rehabilitation and resilience to re-injury.. “REHAB IS TRAINING” and as such it should be equally as challenging, if not more that our life and sporting demands. We use sport-specific protocols and objective testing to confirm you are truly ready for the demands of your activity. Our goal is to not just get you back, but to ensure you return with full confidence, greater strength, and a clear strategy to prevent future injuries.
